The Farmer's Table supper features a local meal prepared by six acclaimed lowcountry chefs, farmer-produced wines, handcrafted brews, and live music by Blue Mudd. The 3rd annual Student Food Drive is just around the corner! Set to kick-off on September 27, the Student Food Drive’s mission is to unite and empower area high school students in the commitment to feed the hungry and promote volunteerism.  This friendly six week competition showcases student leadership and commitment to community. Participating tricounty schools and students are encouraged to engage area businesses, organizations and feeder schools in their efforts to raise the most food and fight hunger. Many of the food bank’s clients, like so many in the America Street community of downtown Charleston, are victims of Food Deserts — areas in the industrialized world where healthy, affordable food is difficult to obtain. Tierra Unida, a grassroots film making organization launched by a group of recent College of Charleston graduates, has been filming The America Street Project — a documentary on the lack of access to fresh, locally produced food and the affects it has had on the America Street community. The LCFB is featured in the film and speaks to the daunting effects that food deserts have on many of the clients we have.
